Anne Sinclair has a diverse background in organizational development, strategic
planning, problem solving, board development, meeting facilitation, board training, communication skill development, and conflict management. With these skills, Anne
has worked with family businesses, partnerships, not for profit organizations, and
government agencies. Anne's skills are valuable in planning sessions, retreats and small
groups. She facilitates focus groups and retreats, assessment interviews, executive
coaching and large-group meetings. After sixteen years in the mental health and not for
profit fields, she established her consulting practice with Resource Associates, Inc. in
1989 in Columbia, South Carolina.
The primary focus of Anne's role with partnerships, family businesses is to facilitate the
process of developing the governance bodies for family businesses and strengthening
the individuals in the family business. Through entities such as family councils and
boards of directors, family members, business owners, and senior managers have the
avenues to solve disputes, make decisions, establish the succession process and move the
business forward. With Anne's knowledge of these structures, she facilitates the process
for members of family businesses, partnerships and closely held businesses to explore
options on the role of the various entities, determine their composition, and develop
strategic plans to guide their actions.
In addition to her work with family businesses, Anne consults with not for profit
organizations in a variety or roles. She works with boards of directors in the areas of board development and capacity enhancement of boards and their staff with a focus on
the organization's mission. One of Anne's particular strengths is in the area of strategic
planning. Anne leads organizations through an in-depth initial process to evaluate the
strengths, challenges, opportunities, and barriers of the organization to the ultimate
development of a strategic plan that will lead the organization forward. Through this
process, she empowers groups to tackle the difficult challenges, resolve the conflicts and
mixed priorities, and to develop strategies.
The third area of expertise for Anne is as a facilitator and consultant for local
governments. Anne served for 20 years on Columbia City Council. During her tenure, she served as the Mayor Pro Tempore for two years and held leadership positions in the National League of Cities including the Board of Directors. Anne's unique perspective gives her the knowledge and perspective of local government. Through her long-time involvement as a local elected official, she is able to lead policy makers as they develop their priorities, establish their strategic vision for their community and determine how they can effectively work together to strengthen their community.
As a volunteer, Anne is a member of the Columbia Rotary, the Lexington Richland
Airport Commission, the Board of Directors of Columbia Green, 701 Center for
Contemporary Art, McKissick Museum Advisory Council and EngenuitySC. Anne
